Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a low force technique that is used to influence the production, reabsorption and circulation of the Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF).  The CSF is the fluid that surrounds the brain, spinal cord and portions of the nerves leaving the spinal cord and helps nourish and protect the nervous tissue.

When the Craniosacral system is working properly then the fluid will be pumped around the tissue with slight rises and falls in pressure as it is moved around.  If the system is not working properly then the body may not be able to properly accommodate these changes in pressure and lead to a pressure building up which can lead to dysfunction of the nervous system.  Many of these dysfunctions can develop as symptoms such as headaches, vertigo, sinus issues, tinnitus, jaw issues, neck/shoulder pain, lower back pain, sciatica and many more.  To help restore the normal flow of the CSF we work the bones of the skull and pelvis as well as the tissue throughout the body.
The treatment is very light in nature as not much pressure is needed to influence the structures involved.  While doing the treatment you may notice subtle changes such in the areas we are working or somewhere else in the body.  Some of the changes people experience are increased pressure in some areas followed by a decrease, heat or a cool feeling, opening of the sinuses, changes in ear pressure and a deep relaxation.
